HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?
Successful tattoo removal requires a high powered laser that can deliver enough energy within the absorption spectrum of a wide range of colors. The high power Q-Switched Nd:YAG 1064nm laser is ideal for treating darker ink colors (black, blue and green), while the 532nm wavelength is effective for brighter ink colors (red, orange and yellow). The treatment mechanically breaks down ink particles without causing thermal damage. In time, the body’s lymphatic system disposes of the ink fragments. This natural healing process causes the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or discoloration.
WHAT TO EXPECT
First, you'll schedule a consultation with a trained professional, who can evaluate your tattoo and advise you on the process. The number of treatments you will need will depend on the age, size, and color(s) of your tattoo. The color of your skin, as well as how deep the tattoo pigment goes, will also affect the removal technique. We typically recommend 6-8 treatments, one month apart.
Depending on the location of your tattoo, you may want to apply a topical anesthesia cream before your treatment. Some clients are fine having it removed without any type of numbing cream, but if needed, we can give you some before your treatment.
